  • Definition: Carbomer resin is a kind of polymer obtained by the copolymerization reaction of acrylic acid with cross-linking agents such as allyl sucrose or allyl pentaerythritol ether.
  • Chemical Name: It is usually called cross-linked polyacrylic acid polymer, and different models may have more specific chemical names.

Physical and Chemical Properties

 
  • Appearance: Generally, it is a white, loose powder with a slightly acidic odor.
  • Solubility: It is insoluble in common organic solvents such as water and ethanol, but it can rapidly swell in water to form a transparent or translucent gel-like substance.
